This can vary drastically from the difference in materials that can be used for residential roofing. The most common however is a asphalt shingle. There are two different asphalt shingles that are the most common. A 30 year shingle or a 50 year shingle. However due to Colorado’s higher elevation, along with the over 300 days of sunshine that we have a asphalt shingle very rarely makes it to these life ranges. With proper maintenance and upkeep of your roof you should expect about 15-20 years of life out of your roof
No. It was once allowed by many local building codes, however things have changed and there is no where that it is allowed to have multiple layers of shingles installed on a roof. When we install a new roof for you we will remove all old materials straight down to your roofs decking (the plywood) and install all brand new components so that you have a new roof. We will clean up after and make sure all the trash and nails are removed to the best of our ability.
In most cases a new roof can be replace in 1-2 days. However depending on the size of the home and the local jurisdictions requirements it could take up to 4-5 days to finalize a new roof installation. Be sure to ask one of our Senior Project Managers about the time frame it’ll take to install your new roof so you know how to plan your time accordingly.
You absolutely can. However this is never recommended. In almost every case when your hire Blue Spruce to help you with your roof repairs or replacement you will receive a warranty with the work that has been performed. We recommend hiring Blue Spruce for all your roof replacements or repairs.
This can vary quite a bit with all the different materials that are available. Asphalt shingles are the most common and widely used material in roofing. A class 4 impact shingle is a great investment into your home. Installing a class 4 IR shingle can potentially give you a discount on your insurance annual policy premium year after year ,all at the same time giving you an added comfort in knowing your roof may be holding up better again your neighbors who have a standard shingle installed.
